It is much much bigger and near all that the Twin Cities has to offer. There is no city, no shopping, no upscale dining, and no other memorable attractions nearby - so if you are looking for than just a casino - try Mystic Lake Casino and Resort south of the Twin Cities. (Please note though - this casino is in the middle of nowhere. It was a fun and memorable way to bring in the New Year - and winning $1000 did not hurt either! We live in Wisconsin now but we drove 4 1/2 hours just to spend two days at Diamond Jo's to celebrate New Year's Eve.because we love Diamond Jo's, we are Holiday Inn members, and our favorite band was playing there New Year's Eve.Īnd what a great time we and two other couples had!!! The band - Westside - is our favorite band - they are absolutely wonderful! If you like energy, a friendly band, terrific musicians, and upbeat music - you will love Westside! The casino is attached to a hotel (Country Inn) and there is another hotel right across the street (Holiday Inn). The sit-down 'nice' restaurant is also good - and if you prefer fast food - Subway and Burger King are inside the casino. Excellent management, EDR food is really bad and even though it’s free, it’s not. The salary is kind low, benefits aren’t great while being rather expensive, as for the 401K, not the best match rates but any money Diamond Jo adds is pretty cool. Bartenders were always friendly and, unlike some of the other reviews, we always found the buffet to be very good for a smaller casino. Casino Host (Current Employee) - Northwood, IA - April 19, 2018. We always loved this little casino when we lived in southern MN.
